At ZCB, we don’t just supply barware – we create barware magic! Our in-house design team, supported by our industry knowledge and manufacturing partners, enables us to provide tailored, competitive & creative barware solutions that’ll make your brand shine in a crowded market.
Brands are always looking for points of differentiation. Even when those brands are inherently quirky, there’s always the scope to design or source unusual items that help define or enhance a brand’s identity.
This was the case when working with Sadler’s Peaky Blinder. Drawing on the history of the Midlands gang of the same name, and the not unhelpful additional publicity from a certain TV series, the brand has an edgy appeal.
Products supplied by Zest that have helped reinforce this image have included shot-glasses with an embedded bullet, and a set of stainless steel ice cubes, shaped like silver bullets.
Zest have supported Dead Man’s Fingers rum brand with a range of items, including some unusual drinkware that is spot-on equity.
Rather than traditional drinking glasses, DMF have used skull jars and shot glasses, the former proving so successful as drinkware that they have since added lids and used them as retail packaging for the introduction of four new flavours in 50cl servings.
With a view to the rum being used in hot cocktails for winter, we also designed and supplied stylish gold and black steel cups.
Lucky Buddha came to us with a tight deadline, needing a bespoke tap handle made and delivered in time for the launch of their draft product in pubs around the UK. They had a visual of what the handle should look like, but required us to transform this concept into a 3D model suitable for production. With a brand name like Lucky Buddha, the design of the handle was always going to be stand-out, featuring a laughing Buddha figure sitting atop a stack of lucky dice.
We began by working on 3D modelling to take the 2D image of the Buddha and translate it into a detailed, fully realised 3D design. The model needed to not only capture the details in the figure but also ensure it could be feasibly moulded and cast. This process involved several iterations, going back and forth with refinements until both we and the client were satisfied with the outcome.
Once the Buddha model was finalised, we incorporated dice into the design, scaling them carefully to ensure the overall height of the tap handle met the required specifications. We also developed artwork for each face of the dice, working with the client and supplier to finalise content and placement.
During manufacturing we ensured the tap handle fitting met industry standards and that the colour of the handle matched the selected bottle green pantone colour. Artwork placement and accuracy were double-checked during production, and samples were created for the client to review and use in their promotional photoshoot prior to full production.
Alongside the tap handles, we also designed and produced a range of branded merchandise for the launch, including bespoke hedgehog bar runners, menu holders, bar blades, t-shirts, tote bags, and a giant dice game.
The launch was a success, and the client was thrilled with the outcome.
