Watch the showreel to learn more about Zest’s sustainable procurement process.
Sustainability is built into our supply chain and at every stage of the procurement process.
The outcome is a transparent integration of all stakeholders driving procedural innovation and best practice. Our clients can rely on the process that has been used in the production and delivery of their products.
We engage in open dialogue with clients and suppliers to promote sustainability in sourcing and production. We emphasise responsible material selection and discourage the use of disposable items. In our search for sustainable options, we focus on the following sustainability criteria:
The use of higher quality materials that are ethically sourced (like hemp or organic cotton).
Using materials such as RPET, recycled fabrics, and recycled paper. Staying updated with new materials for possible use.
Consideration of the recyclability of the materials (such as types of plastic, glass, stainless steel, aluminium) and/or the finished products.
With brands and the consumer pushing for more environmentally friendly solutions, we find our clients are coming to us knowing we can meet their requirements sustainably.
Gemporia tasked us to research and implement an eco-friendly alternative to the microfibre pouches they previously used to convey many of the jewellery products in their range. Keep reading to discover how we tackled this challenge and the sustainable solution we reached.
Zest have strict standards for conduct and expect that our suppliers will adhere to these, and ensure others in the supply chain do the same. In addition, we have a responsibility to meet the standards set by each of our clients and any specific additional requirements will be enacted.
All suppliers are required to work in accordance with our Ethical Trading Policy, which is modelled on the ‘base code’ of the Ethical Trade Initiative. Compliance is checked through a questionnaire, audit or inspection procedure.
We also recognise our responsibility in the day to day runnings of the business and we are taking measures to do our bit.
Zest took the decision to move all of our energy supplies to entirely renewable sources, saving about 3.88 tonnes of CO2e per year.
Our next goal is for our direct operations to become carbon positive by at least 10%. This will involve a combination of changes to our facilities and processes.
As well as the specific actions we take when it comes to the supply of products, we also support the circular economy
